On Friday May 1, the Fund For Our Economic Future, based in Cleveland, OH, invited best-selling author and political strategist David Osborne to speak at the City Club of Cleveland to more than 90 civic leaders from both the public and private sector . Osborne spoke on "Finding the Leverage for Change: Strategies for Reinventing Government." The event coincided with the Fund's effort to encourage government collaboration, EfficientGovNow; of which Osborne spoke highly.

The authors surveyed over 350 municipal governments in the United States to learn the extent and characteristics of locally imposed tax and expenditure limits (TELs). They found that one in eight survey respondents had imposed some form of TEL. Their research compared characteristics of the TELs imposed as well as the municipalities that imposed these restrictions on themselves.
E-government refers to the use of information and communication technology to provide and improve government services, transactions and interactions with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government. It is a critically important tool for improving the efficiency local government services while improving the quality of service delivery, promoting citizen engagement and providing transparency of government.
In March 2009 the Wisconsin Counties Association and the Wisconsin City/County Managers Association co-sponsored with other organizations a conference at the University of Illinois Chicago called "Beyond the Web Page - An E-Government Workshop."
