- Beginning in 2008 the Summit Fire District and the City of Oconomowoc fire department have shared training of fire fighters as well as a shared 3,500 gallon tanker
- At this time there were discussions between the Town of Summit and the Village of Oconomowoc Lake about consolidation of fire services
- In late 2009, the City of Oconomowoc and Town of Summit began construction of a shared 14,000 square foot fire station - new facility allows for the co-location of the potentially merged department to permit jointly serving the Pabst Farm development.
- In spring 2011 the Town of Summit asked neighboring fire districts to submit consolidation proposals
- Summit Fire District merged with the Dousman Fire District on Jan. 1, 2013
- Dousman Fire District entered into a Shared Services agreement on Dec. 29, 2014 with the City of Oconomowoc to jointly respond to fires and emergencies out of the shared fire station at Pabst Farms
