Planning & Managing Energy Resources in Local Government
Sept. 23, 2009
Metropolis Hotel
5051 Fairview Dr
Eau Claire, WI
Join local and national experts to learn about free tools that are available to help communities develop renewable energy opportunities and create an energy portfolio that meets their needs. First, trainers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will show how to use Energy Star Portfolio Manager. This software helps users monitor and analyze the use of water and energy across multiple buildings in a secure online environment. Whether you are in the public or private sector, if you own, manage, or hold properties for investment, Portfolio Manager can help you set investment priorities, identify under-performing buildings, verify efficiency improvements, and receive EPA recognition for superior energy performance.
Next, learn how to use UW Extension’s new Wisconsin Bio-energy Sites and Sources Tool. This tool provides entrepreneurs, developers, public officials and regulators with information relevant to siting and operating bio-energy production facilities in Wisconsin. The tool includes dynamic internet mapping capabilities, bio-energy feedstock profiles and bio-energy infrastructure maps,
Finally, learn how ten pilot communities are planning to achieve their energy independence goals and leverage the economic development potential of energy conservation and renewables.
This workshop is being held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Economic Development Association WEDA Fall Conference on Economic Development. Working to develop local sources of renewable energy is a wise economic development strategy as it creates sustainable jobs and keeps dollars circulating within the local economy.
